Application Tips & Protocols

Whole-Body MRI at 1.5T in the Era of Deep Resolve.
Step-by-step video tutorial with MAGNETOM Sola and software version syngo MR XA51

Will McGuire, Deputy MRI Superintendent Radiographer(Paul Strickland Scanner Centre, Northwood, Middlesex, UK)

The "Comprehensive" protocol includes a fast FLAIR brain scan, lung imaging and additional VIBE sequences. This protocol will be the more widely compatible version as it does not include Deep Resolve or other advanced acceleration techniques.
The "Core" protocol is typically used for bone-only disease. This protocol contains Deep Resolve Gain and Deep Resolve Sharp enhanced sequences.
You can mix and match sequences from both protocols to best suit your requirements.
Deep Resolve Boost enhanced protocols will be uploaded when syngo MR XA60/61 becomes widely available.

FAQs

What is a quantitative MRI? ›

In contrast, quantitative MRI (qMRI) techniques measure actual tissue parameters such as the T1-, T2-, T2*-relaxation times or the proton density (PD), largely eliminating hardware effects (2). Figure 1 demonstrates examples of qMRI maps.

Is a full body MRI scan worth it? ›

However, unlike proven screenings such as pap smears or colonoscopies, full body MRIs have not been shown to be beneficial. Importantly, screening tests like pap smears and colonoscopies have undergone extensive study and are recommended in individuals who are at risk.

Does a full body MRI detect colon cancer? ›

Full-body MRIs can't detect every type of cancer.

There are many types of cancer, with a vast range of early warning signs. Many of the most common don't appear on MRIs. For instance, colon cancer screening requires a colonoscopy.

How much does it cost for a full body MRI scan? ›

Your Health, Your Choice
Fast Track MRI - Scan within 7 days£365
Standard MRI - Scan from 7 days£345
Off-Peak MRI Scan - Limited fixed scan times£249

What is the difference between qualitative and quantitative MRI? ›

Qualitative versus quantitative MRI

Moreover with qualitative MRI, analyses are generally not provided with an associated measurement of uncertainty. Quantitative MRI, as the name suggests, allows for the measurement of various properties from the MR image.

What is quantitative imaging? ›

Quantitative Imaging refers to the use of novel MRI sequences and analysis methods to derive meaningful neuroanatomical properties from quantitative metrics related to biological processes, allowing for the identification of biomarkers and disease progression in neurological conditions such as epilepsy.

Why would a doctor order a full body MRI? ›

Key takeaways: A whole body MRI screening is a powerful imaging test to detect abnormalities inside your body. MRI scans are fast, accurate, painless, and non-invasive ways to screen for signs of possible cancer and other health issues.

How long does a full body MRI scan take? ›

A whole-body MRI is an extremely effective tool for detecting cancer. It is non-invasive and takes only 90 minutes. It can pick up a lot of unimportant abnormalities, which can increase short-term anxiety.

What is the purpose of a full body MRI scan? ›

Whole-body MRI (WB-MRI) is an imaging modality which scans the patient's entire body from head to toe to detect cancer lesions. WB-MRI protocol commonly includes a combination of anatomic T1W and T2W MRI with functional DWI MRI. For PCa patients it is currently used to detect and monitor nodal and bone metastasis.

What is the cost of a full body scan? ›

Cost of MRI Whole Body Screening The cost of MRI Whole Body Screening near me in Delhi ranges from INR 30000 INR 80000.

Can a full body MRI detect stomach cancer? ›

Like a CT scan, an MRI can show detailed images of soft tissues in the body. But MRIs use radio waves and strong magnets instead of x-rays. This test is not used as often as CT scans to look for stomach cancer, but it may be helpful in certain situations, such as when looking for tumors in the liver.

Is an MRI as good as a colonoscopy? ›

Results: In detecting endoluminal lesions, MRC achieved a diagnostic accuracy similar to CC (sensitivity, 96%; specificity, 93%; positive predictive value, 98%; and negative predictive value, 87.5%). Conclusions: MRC could be useful in screening programs of patients at high risk for colon cancer.

Can MRI results be seen immediately? ›

This means it's unlikely you'll get the results of your scan immediately. The radiologist will send a report to the doctor who arranged the scan, who will discuss the results with you. It usually takes a week or two for the results of an MRI scan to come through, unless they're needed urgently.

Will a doctor call if MRI is bad? ›

If you get MRI results that are bad or serious, your doctor will likely contact you right away. Their priority is your wellbeing and safety and they want to get you the care you need as fast as possible. If your results are not serious, they will be ready within 1-2 weeks.

Can I request a full-body MRI scan? ›

We accept self-referrals. You can schedule your full-body MRI scan as early as the next day in just 5 minutes. With our help, you'll be able to get an accurate diagnosis and get treated as soon as possible.

What is a quant MRI? ›

NeuroQuant brain MRI is a specialized type of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) that helps identify and assess degeneration of the brain in its earliest stages through AI technology comparing the images to a pool of images by the same sex and age to analyze for possible changes to brain size.

What are the three types of MRI? ›

Apart from the Tesla strength, MRI machines are differentiated into 3 categories based on their structure and design – these include closed MRI machines, wide bore MRI machines, 'truly' open MRI machines and open upright MRI scanners.

What is a quantitative in radiology? ›

Quantitative imaging (QI) is defined as the extraction of quantifiable radiologic biomarkers from medical images for the assessment of the severity, degree of change, or status of a disease or chronic condition relative to normal (1).

What is the difference between MRI and qMRI? ›

In contrast to conventional MRI, quantitative MRI (qMRI) is aimed at the direct measurement of the physical tissue properties, such as the relaxation times, T1 and T2, as well as the proton density (PD).
