Bold statement: a six-year run in Tampa’s Mix 100.7 mornings has come to a close as Brody exits WMTX.
After joining WMTX in April 2019 to team up with Laura Diaz, Nathan ‘Brody’ Halegua has moved on, leaving the station where he anchored the morning show solo since Diaz’s departure in September to pursue opportunities outside the industry. His iHeartMedia Tampa tenure spans eleven years total, including a long stint hosting evenings at CHR 93.3 WFLZ from 2014 before moving to WMTX. His career also includes on-air roles at WFKS Jacksonville, WJHM Orlando, WKSS Hartford, WXXL Orlando, and KUPL Portland.
In a heartfelt note shared on Instagram, Brody wrote about hanging up the headphones for a while and reflected on a nearly six-year, record-breaking journey. He thanked his listeners and partners for showing up every morning, expressing deep gratitude for the support, laughter, and loyalty they provided. He described how listeners welcomed him into their homes, cars, and daily routines, calling it a privilege he will never take for granted.
He added that his goal was to bring smiles, connection, and a bit of fun to mornings, acknowledging that listeners delivered the same warmth back to him. He admitted that this departure wasn’t the ending he pictured and admitted the difficulty of saying goodbye, but emphasized gratitude for opportunities, pride in his work, and a belief that a new, destined chapter awaits. He hinted that everything happens for a reason and that this is just the start of something new.
As for WMTX’s morning plans, no official replacement has been announced yet. Meanwhile, a former Tampa-area morning show is teasing a market return with an upcoming Thursday morning announcement at 8:00 a.m.
